Good news for those who want to become space tourists.
A successful test of the Scaled Composites Model 339 SpaceShipTwo put Virgin Galactic a step closer to the purpose of sending private passengers over the terrestrial atmosphere.
Those who have proposed to fly in space have a reason to smile. Spaceship Company, a manufacturer belonging to Virgin Galactic, has successfully completed a test of SpaceShipTwo (or SS2), a space plane designed for space tourism, writes Futurism.
The project was unveiled in 2009 and has since been in development and testing. At each launch, suborbital planes carry the spaceplane together with the six passengers and two pilots, and Virgin Galactic hopes to have a fleet of five travel equipment in the future.
Although the new test puts the company a step closer to creating the first commercial airline, they have not yet reached the "destination". SS2 will need further tests, but so far Virgin Galactic is pleased with the performance of the plane. Also, there is no legislative framework for this not yet unexplored field of space commercial travel, which in theory could mean a delay of some years of implementation of the new type of tourism.
