It is everywhere the same. The present products are made to get broke fast. In my country, they call it the "throw-away society". This society exists for 30 years at least. It is a way to make money.

Repairing is not the plan. At times things can be repaired but those parts needed and easily broke (on purpose) are not been produced. Most people working with electronics do not have modern knowledge. They try or if it's within the guarantee-time they give you a new article. It's easier and cheaper for them too.

If it comes to adding more damage to make you come back it's everywhere the same and it will only get worse. More and more people do it themselves or indeed buy new. This means those people will not easily be asked. They still get away with it though.
