Ayer todo el mundo visitó La Laguna (Tenerife). Al ser festivo, la gente ha aprovechado para hacer sus compras y visitar esta ciudad Patrimonio de la humanidad.

Hay una fiesta cultural, con un gran valor tradicional y religioso, que todavía se conserva en Canarias. Son las Cruces de Mayo.

En La Laguna (Tenerife) hay cinco capillas históricas que la ciudad conserva y que específicamente se abren a primeros de Mayo para mostrar una cruz ricamente decorada y adornada con flores.
In La Laguna (Tenerife) there are five historical chapels that the city preserves and that specifically open at the beginning of May to show a cross richly decorated and adorned with flowers.

Nosotros, como otros tinerfeños y algunos foráneos, hemos aprovechado para ir a La Laguna y visitar unas cuantas capillas, iglesias o instituciones donde muchas personas, creyentes o no, han engalanado una cruz con esmero, pues consideran que estás tradiciones son muy nuestras y no se deben perder.

La primera que visitamos fue la cruz que está en la “Capilla de los Plateros”. En el siglo pasado, hubo en La Laguna un importante taller de orfebrería y está capilla les pertenecía. A la entrada, como no podía ser de otra manera, hay dos grandes jarrones de plata con flores.
The first one we visited was the cross that is in the "Chapel of the Silversmiths". In the last century, there was an important goldsmith's workshop in La Laguna and this chapel belonged to them. At the entrance, how could it be otherwise, there are two large silver vases with flowers.

A continuación fuimos a la Catedral. En su interior esta la “Cruz de la Santa Iglesia Catedral de La Laguna”. Esta iglesia principal ha sido restaurada recientemente y está muy bonita.

En la Cruz están presentes los complementos habituales: la lanza que atravesó el costado de Jesús, la corona de espinas, el flagelo y en este caso también está la esponja con vinagre que dieron a Jesús para calmar su sed.

A la entrada hay una pareja de figuras sentadas que se llaman “Los Mayos”. En la tradición palmera, representan un hombre y una mujer que ejercen de guardianes de la Cruz.

La Cruz está en una hornacina a la entrada de la casa, junto a la escalera. Se han abierto las puertas para la ocasión y la Cruz ha sido vestida con ricos paños y se ha engalanado con joyas de la familia y otras piezas devocionales.
The Cross is in a niche at the entrance of the house, next to the staircase. The doors have been opened for the occasion and the Cross has been dressed with rich cloths and has been adorned with family jewels and other devotional pieces.
A los pies de la Cruz, hay un Niño Jesús acostado del siglo XVIII y que proviene de Guatemala.

Justo enfrente de la Cruz anterior, está la torre de la “Iglesia Nuestra Señora de la Concepción” y en el patio encontramos la “Cruz del Adelantado.”

En el interior de la iglesia hay otra cruz. En esta iglesia lo que más me gustó fueron los techos de madera y algunas figuras que se encuentran junto a la Cruz de Nuestra Señora de la Concepción.

Seguimos nuestro recorrido hacia la plaza del Cristo. Antes de llegar, entramos al patio interior de la residencia de ancianos y encontramos la “Cruz el Hogar del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna.”

La “Cruz del Santuario del Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna” se encuentra justo a la entrada de la iglesia. Esta Cruz únicamente sale en procesión una vez al año. Acompaña al famoso Cristo de La Laguna el día de su festividad que es el 14 de septiembre.

Proyecto “Curiosidades de Tenerife”.
Con esta entrega inició un nuevo proyecto. La idea es seguir descubriendo con vosotros lugares interesantes, costumbres, leyendas, gastronomía, tradiciones, etc...de esta isla tan maravillosa.
Tenerife es una de las ocho Islas Canarias. Es un archipiélago de origen volcánico que se encuentra en el océano Atlántico, cercano a las costas africanas. Su clima no es cálido porque recibe unos vientos que soplan desde el norte: los vientos Alisios. Gracias a este aire fresco que trae humedad, las islas disfrutan de un clima especial, casi siempre templado y hay mucha vegetación. Por estas razones, los antiguos romanos las denominaron las “Islas Afortunadas.”
En los próximos artículos, seguro que habrá muchas curiosidades que os podré ir contando. Espero que las futuras publicaciones de “Curiosidades de Tenerife” os resulten gratas, os gusten y os proporcionen entretenimiento e información. A mí, personalmente me resultará muy divertido que descubramos juntos estos lugares, tradiciones y en definitiva patrimonio cultural. Cuento con vosotros.
Project "Curiosidades de Tenerife".
With this delivery he started a new project. The idea is to continue discovering with you interesting places, customs, legends, gastronomy, traditions, etc ... of this wonderful island.
Tenerife is one of the eight Canary Islands. It is an archipelago of volcanic origin that is located in the Atlantic Ocean, close to the African coasts. Its climate is not warm because it receives winds that blow from the north: the trade winds. Thanks to this fresh air that brings humidity, the islands enjoy a special climate, almost always temperate and there is a lot of vegetation. For these reasons, the ancient Romans called them the "Fortunate Islands."
In the next articles, I'm sure there will be many curiosities that I can tell you. I hope that future publications of "Curiosidades de Tenerife" will be pleasant, like and provide entertainment and information. Personally, it will be very fun for us to discover together these places, traditions and, in short, cultural heritage. I count on you.
Cómo lo hago
Hice las fotografías con mi iPhone X. Disparé la foto en modo “retrato” con Luz de escenario “mono”. Para la edición utilicé la aplicación Snapseed y para la firma digital usé la App Watermark.
Los dibujos los hice en el iPad con el programa Sketches.
For the photography I use my iPhone X. I shot the photo in "portrait" mode with "mono" stage light. For edition I use the Snapseed application and for the digital signature the Watermark app.
Everything I did on my mobile phone, I did not use the computer at all.
For the drawings, I use the Sketches program and paint them on the tablet.

Veo que has combinado nuevamente varias cosas en esta publicación. Muy bueno el recorrido por diferentes iglesias. Interesante el tributo a la cruz. El colorido estuvo genial, aquí también celebramos el día, yo lo celebro doblemente porque cumple años mi hija mayor. Me gustó mucho el altar donde se evidencia el colorido de las flores anunciando la primavera. Cuantas historias como la de Tenerife pudiesemos encontrar. Una vez más deseo el mayor de los éxitos en este proyecto, sé que lo tendrás. Saludos.

Amigo gracias por compartir. En Venezuela también celebramos la Cruz de mayo. Hace altares con flores. Quedan muy hermosos. Y se le dedican canciones. En la zona oriental donde vivo, se le cantan polos, galerones.
Aquí no se les canta nada, por lo menos en Tenerife. Tal vez en otras localidades si lo hagan. Creo recordar que en Ciudad Real lo celebran mucho y emplean canciones.
