Desmodromic system
In the camshaft the valves return to their place thanks to springs. However with the desmodromic system, the spring is removed, and therefore, both the opening and closing of the valves is determined by the camshaft (s).
This gives the advantage that at high revolutions there is no "valve float", ie the spring is not able to close the valve in time when the cam pushes it again. This makes the valve "floating" and loses great performance.
Sistema desmodrómico:
En el árbol de levas las válvulas retornan a su lugar gracias a resortes. Sin embargo con el sistema desmodrómico, se quita el resorte, y por ende, tanto la apertura y cierre de las válvulas es determinado por el o los arboles de levas.
Esto da la ventaja de que a altas revoluciones no se produzca la "flotación de válvulas", es decir, el resorte no es capaz de cerrar a tiempo la válvula cuando la leva la empuja nuevamente. Con esto la válvula queda "flotando" y se pierde gran rendimiento.
