Pájaro Garrapatero
Garrapatero pijuy, garrapatero curtidor, pijuíl, anó de pico estriado, anó pico surcado, guardacaballos, matacaballos, chiclón, y tijo.
Su nombre Crotophaga significa que come garrapatas y deriva de las raíces griegas kroton = garrapata y phagos = que come. El epíteto ani deriva del término Tupí-Guaraní Anim que es utilizado para referirse a un ave de hábitos sociales.
Este lindo pajarito nos estuvo siguiendo en las labores de campo, mientras plateabamos en los árboles de #Cafe, ya que se alimenta generalmente en el suelo. Su dieta incluye termitas, insectos grandes como saltamontes, arañas, ciempiés, pequeñas serpientes, lagartijas y ranas. Suelen comer frutas y semillas cuando los insectos escasean. Ocasionalmente se alimentan de garrapatas y otros y está pendiente para comerlos... También emite un sonido muy peculiar... Les dejo video tomado desde mi celular
