Cervus duvauceli
Estos animales poseen astas grandes cubiertas de piel suave durante el verano, que finalmente se descubren y pierden cada año. Las astas generalmente tienen entre 10 y 15 puntas y son de hasta 1,000 mm de largo. Las astas son tersas y posee pezuñas extendidas como adaptación a zonas inundables. Poseen glándulas en la parte frontal de los ojos y en las patas. Carecen del primer dedo, el tercero y cuarto están bien desarrollados y el segundo y quinto son pequeños. Las hembras poseen dos pares de mamas. Poseen un estómago tetra-cavitario rumiante. La coloración general es café con las regiones inferiores más claras y la parte baja de la cola blanca o amarillo pálido. En el verano todo el pelaje se vuelve más claro, café amarillento y algunas poblaciones presentan manchas claras en el lomo y costados, similares a las de Axis axis.
