This is the first-ever confirmed image of a newborn planet
Using a specialized planet-hunting instrument aboard European Southern Observatory's Very Large Telescope, astronomers from the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Germany has captured a spectacular image of a planet forming around a dwarf star, visible as a bright spot in the picture above. The newborn planet has been named PDS 70b and as per the astronomy team that discovered it, it is a giant gas planet with a mass several time that of Jupiter and has a temperature of around 1000 degrees Celsius.
