I have also wondered similar things about LSD. With the drug, neuropathways are opened that would otherwise be dormant. It's interesting to ponder and (in my opinion) very easy to believe that the visuals/experiences that are opened up via drug use are actual realities that we just can't perceive under normal conditions.
I couldn't agree more and was always a firm believer of this. As the kids say these days, "There's levels to this shit.".
