NASA's Juno Mission - we are orbiting Jupiter

in #space8 years ago

I have always found it incredibly fascinating to read about space and thought it was appropriate to start some discussion on STEEM about NASA's Juno mission!

Juno approach "movie"

"Collection of the images began ~3 weeks before Juno fired its engines to slow down and be captured into orbit around Jupiter. One red/green/blue image was taken every 15 minutes. Over 1,300 still images were acquired over a ~17-day period, then put together very much in a flip book-like fashion to create the Juno Approach Movie."

There is also large zip files of raw images taken by Juno on approach available at this link...

So what do you guys think? We had we're able to enjoy some impressive photos and information from Pluto just a few months ago and now we are getting a closer look at Jupiter! This mission has just started and I know I am excited to see what information comes out next!
