RE: Can Mars Be Terraformed? If So Would It Be Viable To Do It?
That is interesting but I guess the thing is if it would survive on Mars.

One would need to successfully engineer strains by directed evolution to make them resistant to the harsh conditions on mars. The genetic tools do exist, but it remains an enormous challenge obviously.
It is amazing what can survive out there though. I guess some worms that were being experimented on survived the Space Shuttle Columbia accident. Also it is a major concern that bacteria from Earth will contaminate Mars despite the 6+ month journey in space.
