Asgardia is having a flag contest
The new "country" of Asgardia, the first ever space nation created by Dr. Igor Ashurbeyli is having a flag contest. This is the first of many steps to the organization's mission to become a nation recognized by the UN.
Asgardia's philosophical envelope is to ‘digitalise’ the Noosphere, creating a mirror of humanity in space but without Earthly division into states, religions and nations. In Asgardia we are all just Earthlings!
Taking a look at the mission and concept of Asgardia, citizenship is discussed and I liked the ending of this statement.
After Asgardia is recognised as a member of the UN, the question of reasons for granting citizenship will inevitably arise. One opinion is that the first Asgardians will be those who work in the fields of space research and exploration, and space technology, as well as investors in these fields, including small investors.
"including small investors" makes me hope that they will have a crowd funded part of the new nation in space. I would be very interested in investing in space. Whenever I start looking at space companies you need a minimum of 500k to even think about being an investor. This to me is like walking past IBM, Apple or Microsoft as they work in their "garage" and knowing that they are going to be the next big thing but can't invest in it. I understand these companies can't pander to the stockholders when the mission is 10-15 years out. Still I wish I could be a part of Deep Space Industries or Spacex.
So back to the flag contest. This is one of my favorate flags in the contest. DNA on the third rock from the sun (that we know about!(one can only hope)(ah who am I kiding we are alone *sob)))
