Collapse of USSR taken for granted.

Thirty-three years ago the USSR passed out of existence as its eastern European satellite states continued their pell-mell abandonment of Communist rule. Thus ended one of the most horrifying social and economic experiments in human history.

Today, all over the world, young people yearn to overthrow the market system and replace it with the system that, everywhere it was adopted, produced poverty, thwarted hopes, and totalitarian rule. They are oblivious to the fact that private entrepreneurs have brought them their instant Amazon deliveries, their pricey Starbucks coffee drinks, their computers and smart phones, and the social media platforms on which they register their bitching about the horrors of the free market.

Surely miseducation and ill-chosen ideology are powerful forces in the world. Neither economic logic nor undeniable facts stand a chance against them.
