Day 36

in #south7 years ago

Today was another super day, we were going to get up early and see some sights before breakfast, but it was raining and ridiculously misty, so we didn’t. We went out just after 0800 and went to ‘Harrie’s Pancakes’, I had a chocolate mousse pancake and a mango juice – it was delicious.

Our first stop of the day happened by accident, we saw ‘The Jock Of The Bushveld’ Memorial. It was a bit weird, just a stone by the side of the road, but we’re being tourists so I took some photos anyway!

Our next stop was the ‘MacMac Falls’, which was very beautiful.

Then we headed to ‘MacMac Pools’, this was amazing. Katie and I started at the top in the main pool and made our way down, climbing over rocks, sliding down waterfalls, splashing about and having a fantastic time. Annabelle joined us for a swim and Tanza was chief photographer. We spent a couple of hours there and then decided we should probably leave.

We decided to drive to Sabie and on the way found a place called ‘Monkey Birds’. We had lunch (Bar One pancake and chocolate milkshake) and played with their pet monkey.

We left there and drove back to Graskop, stopping to look at the scenery on the way. We wanted to have dinner in the other pancake place, and they close at 1700, so we literally went from lunch at about 1430, to dinner about an hour later! This pancake place was called ‘Silver Spoon’ and I had a amarula chocolate mousse pancake with ice cream which was super nice.

Our next stop was ‘Wonder View’, a very beautiful viewpoint, with a road trip too photo for good measure.

Then we headed on to ‘God’s Window’, I wasn’t too impressed with the viewpoint itself but then we wandered up a bit more and found a stunning viewpoint, it was so beautiful. On the way back down we stopped at a different viewpoint, it was amazing how quickly the clouds covered everything. We had to walk through a little rainforest to get to it too which was great fun.

We got back in the car and stopped at a lay by, we walked along a little path and found another lovely viewpoint. The sun rays coming through the clouds were stunning.

Our last viewpoint for the day was ‘The Pinnacle’ – very beautiful.

We got back to our little chalet and had a nice relaxed evening. Today was absolutely fantastic, the scenery is out of this world, so so beautiful, everything is so green and it just doesn’t look like Africa. It wasn’t the hottest of days today but the clouds were stunning, they really change how the landscape looks. What an awesome day!
