There is something about warm bread that fills my Spirit with such joy. I am like a kid, sitting in front of the oven, watching the bread rise and then watching it turn golden brown.....joy filling me deep inside. The ding of the oven timer, the bread comes out....you can still hear the crispy crust crackling. I give it a knock...nice hollow sound. I know this will be delicious. It's so hard to wait to allow it to cool slightly but I know the rewards will be great.

Finally! It's cool enough to cut! Beautiful crumb, soft inside, crispy rustic crust. The butter melts and drips. The first bite, oh that first bite. My mouth fills with greatness and for a moment, nothing else matters in the world.

There isn't to much better then fresh homebaked sourdough bread. It's enough to brighten any day.

We were gifted this starter many years ago, and the person who gifted it to us had it for years. It had been handed down to them as well. The starter is said to be over 100 years old. It is a very active starter....very happy. We use ONLY organic flour for our starter. The beautiful thing about sourdough is that it is fermented in such a way that breaks down the gluten proteins making them more easily digestible. Couple that with the use of organic wheat (no glyphosate) and a lot of people who are gluten sensitve are actually able to eat this bread. I bake for a local co-op and have several customers that buy from me that have not had bread in years due to their sensitivity but they started buying from me and can eat our bread just fine with no issues. Sourdough bread starter can be used to make all kinds of goodies from pizza crust, bagels, crescents, to English muffins, naan/flatbreads, and pretzels. Check out some of the goodies we have made with ours!

@eco-locals.com we love fermented foods. Fermented drinks too! We make home brewed kombucha, tibicos, jun, and gingerbeer. We make our own krauts, and all sorts of goodies. :)
