great work! I see what you mean on the black and white, I think it would look cool various tones of black and white on the music notes. When we pick the winner (and its looking like we will have more than one and also a prize increase) we will base on the concept and go for adjustments later. Thank you for the thought and detail here, its great knowing you will work with us to, so we can get it just right. huge ups
My pleasure - it is just a question of understanding the brand you want to communicate. Are you publishing? Managing A&R? Playing live on line (radio)? Are you hip-hop? Reggae? etc
It is a question of understanding what you want people to think when they see your iconography.
We are all those things lol. Everything, this why i pulled stuff together under the name sound legion, alot of artist in alot of different genres, we work in promotions, publishing, managing , licensing, radio play, distribution all of these things. There is no primary other than making music, and coming together with other artists to collaborate and support each other. I really appreciate your questions, and delving in to understand the type logo we need, sky is the limit, im open to all ideas, would love to see it incorperate steemit sound legion and music. The logo is gonna be used for various projects, and channel artworks and post endings and flyers, its very likely we will be choosing more than one.

I wrote a post about music and the blockchain a while back - very non-tech - more about the smart contract possibilities [my brother is a DJ in Ibiza and a mate in London is an A&R guy and Publisher].
I also believe we should have about 8 channels of music on steemit .... NOW ... and I know how to do it.
I am a bit of a music nutter.
In terms of logo, you only EVER have ONE - nobody ha more than one, not even the biggest brands in the world. And you protect that logo like crazy.
What you can have as supplementary tools are icons. So, take Apple. They have their logo (Useable with certain colour reproduction options, inc B&W)
They then have other icons which they use, especially around music, funnily enough, but also their 'Command' key icon is an example.
So, much as I want to win and work with you guys, be careful about your brand. You should build what is called a 'Brand Style Guide'. This includes all aspects of how the world experiences your brand. It goes as far as telling you what font you use in an email, believe it or not!
These are built up so that a printer or a developer can be given their "do's and dont's" without having to explain it all the time.
I am being long-winded. Apologies. Start right ... withe everything ... and you will find life easier and you will have less work to do!

However, it gives you the gist of it.
I would like to see it reversed out as well so that the letters and the notes are in black against a white background, it may have a better impact ... the proof is in the mpeg.

Thanks very much! There is still a lot to work out with you ... should you choose! here are things like the relative size of the font to the 'legion of notes. The simplest is to end each end of the notes at the outer limit of the widest word. This will give the logo 'balance', as I have done here.
