Sony World Photography Awards 2020: here are the new categories

In these hours, the Japanese firm announced the news of the upcoming Sony World Photography Awards 2020. Thus, the coveted award in photography reaches 13 per year enabling photographers around the globe to express their art. The Sony World Photography Awards 2020 website is already active and ready to receive pictures from all customers and new categories have been developed for this edition as well. We discover the Environment category for the Professional segment among the developments, while the Youth section has been checked for photographers who are now beginning their own voyage.

The Professional part was divided into ten sections by examining those working in photography for both the creative aspect and the story. As previously written, we have added the fresh Ambiente theme category that could not be ignored due to the historical period in which we are.

Instead, the Youth section got a fresh regulation for the 2020 Sony World Photography Awards. Photographers aged 12 to 19 can engage in this situation, being able to send up to three single shots a month between June and December 2019. The subject to be discussed will be different from month to month with the judges who will pick a winner and a contestant from moment to time. So we'll have seven photographers competing for the Year 2020 Youth Photographer title.

There will also be an Open section in this edition to reward the worthy individual pictures in ten categories and the Student section devoted to learners of photography.

Sony and WPO announced that they will receive the Sony Grant among the 2019 Sony World Photography Awards winners and finalists. This enables photographers to generate and show fresh projects that have already proved their potential. An example of this possibility is that of the 2018 Photographer of the Year winner, Alys Tomlinson, who made a new movie. Thanks to Sony Grant, this has also been accomplished and will be submitted in France in the summer.

The Sony World Photography Awards will offer participants the opportunity to win one of the awards in addition to Sony's machinery for a complete prize pool of $60,000 and the opportunity to participate in the exclusive London prize-giving. In a series of exhibitions that have reached hundreds of thousands of people in past editions, the works will also be exhibited around the world.
