"Sonnet on Expectations"
Expectations; they are our downfalls.
Ne’er are they satisfactorily met.
Expectations are not good, first of all;
Leading to judgmental thinking and yet
There should be expectations after all.
♦
Expectations sometimes equate to goals,
Goals mean a changing process is at hand.
Change means no stagnation; Time to be bold.
No matter; you will change as you grow old.
♦
Our expectations, when inflexible,
Are a detriment, to achieving goals.
Let one thing drop and you feel terrible.
Let your life flow, and with the punches roll;
You’ll find satisfaction, as you grow old.
