Did You Know? A Total Solar Eclipse is Coming on August 21, 2017 (USA Exclusive)

That's right, this total eclipse will make an EXCLUSIVE pass across only the landmass of the United States. Accoriding to NASA's eclipse tracking website, this will be the first exclusive pass for what is now the USA since June 13, 1257.

While the path of total eclipse is narrow, it will be a coast to coast event. Starting in the Pacific Northwest around 9:48 AM PT and zipping along through the heartland and exiting of the East coast of South Carolina around 4:01 PM EST. [wiki]

Meanwhile all of the United States, Canada, and Mexico will all have views of a partial eclipse.

I will do a follow-up post in the days before the eclipse to give everyone in the viewing path a friendly reminder, although I'm sure at that time it might finally get some news coverage. :-)

Amazingly enough, based on how rare this exclusive type eclipse is, there will be a similar event on August 12, 2045 with a more southern tracking. That one however, will not be exclusive to the United States as the end of its path will track over parts on Northern South America before fading out over the Atlantic. BUT, it will be closer to me here in South Florida![wiki]
