At this years show there was quite a bit to see in the solar world. This is merely a recap of everything that has happened.

  • The German market has opened up with the completion of some major projects.
  • China could be transitioning to using solar in remote locations to make power available to more people.
  • The United States is looking into distributed power to be a solution to free residences from power companies.
  • Power demands have increased once again, but the reliance on fossil fuels has dropped.
  • Materials science is going to be very important in the next few years to build new panel types that haven't existed before.
  • Battery storage technology is going to be the key player in any new system.
  • Germany has made a statement to remove oil and nuclear power by 2022. Estimates are at a cost of 24 billion a year.
  • Batteries are now $650 per kilowatt hour and by next year they will be $425 per kilowatt hour.
  • Solar and Storage combined units are being tested in remote areas of Nevada for electric car charging at reduced rates.
  • The average industry rate for a 3 bedroom 2 bath house has dropped below the $25,000 barrier.
  • Brazil wants to be a big player in the solar market, but analysts say that they might be to late.
