The use of foreign language in classrooms.
Undeniably, individuals who speak the same language employ certain words which are particular of a specific regional/social context to interact every day:
How should foreign language teachers promote the learning of that vocabulary in the classrooms?
Students should always been encouraged to involve themselves as much as they can in the culture in which the language they are trying to learn is used, this will not only accelerate the learning process but will help them to absorb huge quantities of vocabulary proper of a certain social context, studying overseas could be a great option as well as students would have the opportunity of “living” the language and observe how it is applied in real life situations.
What should members of different regional/social contexts do in order to avoid miscommunication?
The use of plain language, when combined with other good communication skills, will assure an accurate communication between two persons. A good advice could be to ask the listener or reader to repeat back his or her understanding of the message communicated by the other person in his or her own words to ensure that the correct information has been received.
