Epic Fail: The War On Poverty

It seems that you can't discuss poverty in America without discussing race- which seems racist to me- the assumption, I suppose is that black people are incapable of lifting themselves out of poverty on their own. Despite statistics that show that in 1940 the poverty rate among blacks was 85% and had dropped to 45% by 1960 (without help). Assuming the previous assumption, how does one explain the success of black people such as Barack Obama (who made it all the way to the presidency), Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Thomas Sowell and many others. Let's look at what results the War on Poverty have amassed.
When LBJ began his "Great Society" programs in the 1960's, as the statistics showed the poverty rate among blacks was already in a precipitous decline... However, it had nothing to do with lifting minorities out of poverty, but establishing a permanent voting block comprised of a black underclass.
Currently led by black "leaders" such as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, John Conyers, Sheila Jackson Lee, Charles Rangel,Maxine Waters, et.al why with this political clout are the programs not succeeding. Perhaps because, these "leaders are more concerned with enriching themselves personally than in helping fellow blacks. Maxine Waters, for example, represents South Central Los Angeles and Watts, but resides in Hancock Park, an exclusive suburb...
Since Johnson's programs were introduced, the American taxpayer has spent in excess of $22 Trillion (see link). What have they gotten for their money? The black leadership have all gotten rich- everyone listed prior are millionaires. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of average black people who still struggle against the bonds of poverty. Living in cities rife with crime and decay- subjugated to an educational system broken beyond any repair, permeated by a culture fueled by the lyrics of Rap music (?)- lyrics such as "nigga gonna slap that bitch ho-" academic excellence is frowned upon as being "white." This in contrast to the public schools in Harlem in the 1950's before the Great Society attended by Thomas Sowell who says that they were the pride of the NYC school system and some of the finest in the country. The entire black pop-culture supports this paradigm. After all if this voting block smartened up and came to understand that their situation was purposely imposed on them and that they have been duped- it's all over for Maxine, Jesse, Big Al and their ilk!
If the $22 Trillion was equally divided between the 42 million blacks- poverty among them would disappear (along with a substantial Democratic voting block) and a new class of taxpayers would be born. However, it's difficult to maintain an atmosphere of racial animosity in an environment of plenty. The new slavery depends on a permanent black underclass... But why concentrate their efforts on actually helping blacks escape poverty when there are still so many Confederate monuments around to distract them with.
Down on Massa Johnson's Plantation, the overseers are black... All engaged in a game of political sleight of hand- keeping blacks focused on imaginary boogie men in white sheets waiting to sell them back into slavery, while all the while the Democratic Party and liberal hypocrites of both colors ensure that they never escape... The legacy of the War on Poverty is institutionalized poverty and a permanent black underclass.

HOWEVER.
One might note that what we call "poverty" today would be considered 'wealth beyond all imagination' a few decades or a century ago.
I would submit that the problem the blacks have is not material poverty so much as a poverty of culture. (keeping the monkeysphere, rat utopia, the iron law of the crazy donkies, and behaviorial sinks in mind...because...natural law don't ya know?)

The war on poverty was only an illusion. They wanted folks to believe they were fighting poverty. In reality they want people poor and dependent. They want to eliminate the middle class and it is a war on the middle class. American history shows is how poorly they treated the Indians and Black. Now there is a war on to destroy WASPS. They need to create division in America to conquer American. As for Obama he was groomed for the office by socialists and communists in America. Sadly he did nothing for the Blacks. We are one people one nation and must stay united as one defending each other to not create division by race or belief. We need to support each other and be strong against those who try to destroy us. This i not so much a class war or a political war or even a war on poverty. This is a spiritual war. Good Vs Evil . Light VS darkness. Spiritual battles are being won against the underground darkness and satanic. Good is prevailing however it is a continued fight for what is right. Look at our values and beliefs and how they have changed. That is what has destroyed America. We must come clean and be pure again as America once was. Great Post my friend.

Exactly! I've lived in predominately black neighborhoods and they are just like everybody else... They get up they go to work come home to their families and hope for the best!

Same here... Rich white liberals pick a few kindred souls that are black and make them wealthy to sell the others out!
So so true. This division is among the "peasants". We have a class divide, and those at the top are doing a great job keeping those at the bottom fighting.

last time I looked (2010), black folk were only 40% of the welfare-client population, and yet efforts to reform welfare spending are deemed "racist"
The term I use for the black "leadership" is sonderkommando, after the Jews the fed other Jews into the ovens for the Nazis...and yet the conmen Jackson, Sharpton, etc, sell out the black community for personal profit, not for another few days of life.

Here in the real world- blacks and whites (that aren't a part of the whole race-baiting paradigm) are pretty much the same... Even though the nuclear black family has been all but destroyed.

We can't look at black folk as if they were dumber than white folk, however.

Speaking of fat drunk Irishmen... I used to live down the street from Tip O'Neill- what a great guy! There were 4 of us, all Nam vets, Bruce and Doug Wilcox (Doug was 2nd Marine Recon & Bruce was a door gunner on a Huey) John Mason was 101 Airborne and me. We rented a big house in N Cambridge and used to sit on the porch drinking beer and smoking weed. When Tip would walk by we'd invite him up and he'd lift a few with us (no weed though). he'd say "No, better not- you guys go ahead though"
One winter we had a big storm and Tip was in DC so we went over and shoveled Millie's walk out so she could get around. She tried to pay us but... Tip used to say he was glad we were in the neighborhood- he felt safer. That guy knew everybody... and don't ask me how I got off on this track!

Tip was one of those guys that was well read and understood the problems we faced, and yet voted squarely in the democong camp every damn time

A little enlightenend self-interest never killed anybody, and is the norm. going along for the ride once the main arteries are bleeding is consent to killing the host. That's what Tip did.
