Really great post, I like to get up to my neck in these topics. Im sure I've heard Graham Hanckock mention the problem with mainstream academics is that their whole career is built upon whatever myth has been peddled. So a paradigm shift in thinking would be career suicide for many of them as they would be starting from scratch.
exactly... the problem is that the fields of archeology and history are too often (always) funded by big universities getting government subsidies. And this leaves the door open to either fraud/outright lies fueling unintended false statements or a childlike competition between big wigs dreaming of fame.
