The Social Network

While watching this film we can see how Facebook has changed through the years. Sometimes its hard to think what life would be like again without Facebook. We live in a life where people are so attached to Facebook and sometimes when they have problems or things happen in their life they go straight to Facebook. Years ago, when the social network movie came out I never paid much attention to it well years back the only reason why I wanted to see the movie was because of one of the main characters which was Justin Timberlake. When it came to Justin timerlake’ s roles I never realized who actually invented napster until I seen the movie who was Shawn parker.

In the movie the social network we got to see mark Zuckerberg play out how Facebook really began and even some of the struggles and things he had to go through. Many people have judged him because of the fact that he was all into social clubs in school and computers. In the movie a girl named Erica actually told mark that he will go through life thinking that girls don’t like him because he was a nerd. Mark was way different than everyone else that he went to college with though because most college students wanted to party but when it came to mark he was someone that stuck to working on computers.

Also, actually if you are someone that is big on Facebook like myself and doesn’t know much of the background of facebook than seeing the social network would be the perfect movie for you. Most people never knew before Facebook was invented that there was face smash which was also similar to Facebook. In face smash people actually wrote blogs and gossiped about each other just like people do on Facebook. At one point in the movie mark actually gossiped about a girl named Erica which he had a thing for. During this phase we knew that’s how airing people’s dirty laundry became very popular. People would trash people on Facebook and never think about the after effect and even now you see sometimes people still doing that.

Next, during this time when facebook first started you needed a college email to be able to register an account. I remember during this time so many people would just register for school so they would get a college email so that they could get a Facebook account or there was many of people who would just make up fake college emails. During the movie I remember the saying that they would use was “Facebook me” that really stuck to me because in 2018 nobody ever uses that line anymore. Facebook was less social back then and somewhat more private. When they started the whole Facebook wall thing and even the relationship status thing that’s when people went beyond crazy even today people still make a big deal over it. In society we would go crazy when we would see that someone’s status was single knowing we are in a relationship with them and we would assume that they were cheating on us just like in the movie. In the movie when the whole relationship status started the girl got mad because the guy Edward has single on his page because he didn’t know how to change it and his girlfriend got mad and assumed that he was cheating.

Finally, when it comes to the social network we got to see all the changes that Facebook has gone though all these years. The way Facebook now is totally different on how it started. In the beginning people could only do certain things and there was a time when it was strictly just for computer purses only because during that time many people didn’t have enough storage on their cell phones for apps. Now in 2018 there are so many things that are constantly changing and new features. Some of the new features are: the live feature, Facebook buying Instagram, Facebook being mobile accessible and even the Facebook messenger has become a big thing. Things have changed when it comes to social media people still do the airing dirty laundry, gossiping and sometimes people still write blogs. The movie teaches you about the whole history of Facebook on how it actually started and honestly, I thought it was very interesting to me.
