you cover so many things and portray them so logically, you cover all bases. Social media is a reflection of who we are as people, who we are as a society. I don't think it has created anything new, only that it has provided people another outlet avenue. These same people were doing the same things in other ways. However, no one can deny that social media's instant nature has made this a much larger problem than it previously was.
Social engineering has always been part of election campaigns, now that we are readily giving these companies so much of our data that it's only logical for them to utilise that. No body can control so much power without using them for their own benefit.
Indeed it is another avenue that often results in the content being broadcasted in the world wide web and with a bigger audience.
Just think of slut shaming, This before the advent of social media was just in that school or neighborhood but now it can be done in social media and the effects are more wide reaching and is forever in the net.
I shake my head when I see dirty laundry paraded in posts.
