Why Do Villagers Tend to Pout Other People Who Wear Expensive Things, While Big City People Incline to Glorify Others Who Sport Expensive Goods?

A rural society is a traditional community. The society adheres to "social class determines consumption patterns" principle. In the community, lower class people are considered unfit to consume expensive goods. Because expensive items are usually used by upper class people. If lower class people make use of the goods, they will be pouted. They will be considered tacky as well as plebeian by others. In fact, people who pout are also plebeian. Because they are indeed villagers. So, the mocked people are lower class people who employ branded items. High-class people who utilize the items are not sneered.

On the other hand, a big city society is a modern community. The society follows "consumption patterns determine social class" statement. In that society, people who buy expensive items will have high social class. Their position is increasing in the community. When someone is in the upper class category, the person will be glorified by other people. That person will be respected by other people. Therefore, many people in big cities are competing to use expensive products. The goal is to enter the upper class category. When they enter that category, they will be honored by someone else.

Today, use of branded goods by urban communities is increasing. It happens because of Instagram. Many people in large cities show off things they consume on Instagram. They posted photos of the things on their Instagram account. For example, they invite their friends to eat in a fancy restaurant. They then take pictures in the restaurant. Focus of the photos is food they consume. After that, they posted those photos on their Instagram account. They also typed #instafood, #foodgasm, or #foodlover in the photographs caption. They do it because they wanted to be venerated by somebody else.

So, use of branded products in rural communities is confusing. Villagers use the products not because they want to show off. However, they are scoffed by another person. On the contrary, use of these products by burghers is complex. Because it is not just a necessity. It is an affirmation of social class too.
