Tottenham Hotspur Defeat Chelsea

in #soccer6 years ago

Spurs grabbed a slender 1-0 win over Chelsea after Harry Kane converted a penalty kick in the first half.
Both sides had a very bright start to the game. The game was open with both sides breaking forward, the ball moving back and front on the pitch.
Just as Chelsea started looking like the more dangerous side, things started to go sour for them. Kane makes a run from deep into the box but gets taken down in the box by a lunge from the keeper. The referee moves to VAR to make a decision as Kane might have been offside. It is finally decided that Kane timed his run well then got fouled by the keeper. Spurs are awarded a penalty.
Harry Kane takes the spot kick, burying it in the bottom left corner to put Spurs ahead.
Chelsea start to regain the tempo they had early on in the game and they almost levelled things before the break. Hudson Odoi crossed the ball in from the right and it gets deflected off Rose. The ball almost found it's way into the top right corner but the keeper managed to get his fingertips to the ball and send it to the woodwork. Spurs clear the ball and escape.
Spurs are put second best in the second half by an attacking Chelsea. Chelsea holding onto most of the ball possession and creating a lot of chances, it is a surprise that they couldn't level the game or even go ahead of Spurs.
Chelsea ramp up the pressure on Spurs in the final minutes. Most of the ball is being played in the Spurs half but the home team's defence holds strong.
Tottenham manages to run down the clock with their one goal lead, and this gives them a slight advantage over Chelsea going into the semi finals second leg of the Carabao Cup.
Spurs had no answer for a Chelsea side that put up a great performance. Chelsea holding more possession and they were just unlucky to hit the bar twice.
