LESSON #2: PRODUCTION OF LIQUID BATHING SOAP
SAFETY :
it is recommended that you use Hand Glove, Nose Mask, Apron when carrying out this practical session because some of the items to be used are harmful. There are diverse alternative chemicals and methods of production. Therefore, the methods are not limited to the one presented here. You will still have a good output irrespective of the item that you mixed first.
CHEMICALS REQUIRED: For ten (10) litres ( i.e you need to provide 10 litres of water)
- Nitrosol … 1/8 kg
- Soda Ash … 1/8 kg
- Sulphonic Acid … ½ litre
- STPP (Sodium Tripoly Phosphate) … 1/8 kg
- Taxapon … ¼ kg
- S.L.S ( Sodium lauryl Sulphate) .... 1/8 kg
- Foam booster .. 1 litre
- Perfume ---- to your taste
- Colourant ---- to taste
- Glycerine …. 20 ml
- Vitamin E … 20 ml
- Honey .. 20 ml
- Preservative 10 ml
OTHER ITEMS NEEDED ARE ·
Clean bowl or basin (big enough to contain the quantity to produce) ·
Wooden or mental rod with flat end.- To be used to stirring the mixture ·
Other smaller bowls to pre –mix the chemicals ·
Hand glove and face mask
PRODUCTION PROCESS FOR LIQUID BATHING SOAP:
a) Dissolve the Nitrosol in 6 litres of water and stir until properly dissolved
b) Dissolve soda ash in ½ litre of water and stir until the particles are dissolved, pour into the Nitrosol solution
c) Dissolve SLS in ¼ litre of water and pour into the Nitrosol solution
d) Dissolve e) Dissovle the colourant in little quantity of water before pouring into the main solution.
f) Dissolve STPP in ¼ litre of water and pour into the Nitrosol solution
g) Turn in the sulphonic acid into the pour into the Nitrosol solution
h) Add in the glycerine, Vitamin E, honey, perfume, Preservative and foam booster into the Nitrosol solution and stir properly until it is fully blended.
i) Allow the soap bubbles to disappear before packaging for use or sales.
