I've moved to Hive, along with most other people, following Justin Sun's takeover of Steem in the Spring of 2020. I believe hive is a lot more decentralised than Steem!

Possibly not the best place to raise this point but... :-)

The issue of limiting Steem Power as the momentum behind Voting Power.

If we were to move towards this, it would shift the emphasis towards the number of votes rather than the power and influence of the whale patrons whose individual votes can make all the difference.

At present however this would just result in even more spam accounts being set up in order to further game the number of votes. So we would be replacing one form of vote power abuse (quality) with another form of vote power abuse (quantity).

Add to this the expected introduction of automated account registration on Steemit and we have a recipe for some real damage to be done to the collective distribution of power and rewards.

So - how do we put limits on voting power (which eliminates a big chunk of the 'Ponzi-potential' that Steemit threatens to have?

And how do we limit / control / detect / remove the high quantity of multiple spam accounts that are used to shift power and game the system?

I need a brain refresh after thinking about all of this! :-)

It is a tricky one - I really wish I'd bookmarked a lot of previous posts on the issue!

PersonallyI think having some kind of reg. and limiting accounts to maybe two or three per person would solve the above issue.
