My Journey as a Storyteller! Sndbox Summer Camp Writing - Task I

in #sndboxquest7 years ago

A few days ago I read the intro of @anomadsoul and just a few minutes after I read the complete post of @guyfawkes4-20, thanks to their excellent posts I was full of encouragement and motivation, and well... Here I am now and this is my entry for the Sndbox Summer Camp created by @sndbox! This post is just an opening for the vast amount of content that comes in the next one, I really put a lot of attention to this and first of all, I hope you enjoy every line I wrote dominated by my passion: writing.

Being totally honest, my journey as a writer started in parallel with my beginning in Steemit. Before this, I was interested in reading as a hobby and sometimes it had crossed my mind to write in a blog or something like that, however, it was Steemit, or more precisely, its users who encouraged me to take me as something serious that proposition of mine to give free rein to my imagination and want to translate it into something, and that something is the act of writing in my case, as it is for the rest of users of this platform.

I began my journey as an amateur writer, as I’ve previously mentioned, prompted by the posts of other Steemit users that I was reading as I tried to clarify how this social network was handled. Although with respect to the second, I’m looking to clarify some things yet, I can say that by writing for my blog, investing effort and time, I have noticed so much improvement in my ability to write. I mention this without pretending to sound pretentious, I consider myself an amateur just like I pointed out above in this post.

It makes me happy for example: to write a short-story, post it, and then at the hours, go back and read some comment from someone saying that thinks it was a good story. That motivates me to continue writing, besides being a pleasant pastime with which I identify myself. Writing has become a means of escaping day-to-day problems and immersing myself in my own ideas, in other words, having a moment with myself. I suppose that in this way others will feel it or maybe the experience will be different for each one, because as they say: each head is a world.

Besides writing, I’m a casual reader. I have read the first two books of the saga "Song of Ice and Fire”: intrigue, magic, war, politics, the best saga of epic fantasy books in my humble opinion, also "Elantris"; a fantasy novel as recommended. American Gods; a novel in which the fantastic elements predominate, but it’s not a typical fantasy novel. Totally recommendable as well. Reading these magnificent works has also been an incentive to enter as a writer.

Being part of @sndbox, would be a great opportunity for me, it would allow me to grow as a blogger and join other users with similar ideals. My long-term goal is to deploy a community in Steemit with users from my local city and then promote the platform outside of it as well, I would like to take advantage of the influence of the @sndbox community to spread the voice and make Steemit reach wherever if it’s possible. If I am selected for the Sndbox Summer Camp, then I assure you only one thing: I will not stop and I won’t waste such an opportunity, I will be openly participating in the different activities that @sndbox carries out and I will propose the opening of different contests or promotions in which the main objective will be mutual learning and the creation of high-quality content that will help to promote the Steem blockchain in a good way. Being member of @sndbox, if they allow me, I could do an extensive and intensive research every day in search of exceptional contents from unrecognized authors or with rewarding. I have to be honest, since my arrival at Steemit, my social interaction has not been very remarkable, I’ve almost always focused on making content and reading other people's posts without commenting, but if I become a member of @sndbox I would try to increase considerably my social interaction on the platform, I would like to be able to propose different projects and activities to users like @anomadsoul or @guyfawkes4-20, I know that with their support, I could materialize my ideas.

My writing style, I would say, is very influenced by the works of Neil Gailman, he uses a thoroughly descriptive writing mode and I love it, from the very first moment I identified with his magnificent style of writing, the immersion that he creates with his descriptive narrative makes the universe he has created feels full of life and an unmistakable essence, reading its lines it’s easy to immerse yourself or feel that you are traveling within his world, it’s such an incredible sensation and for that reason as an amateur of writing I knew it since I read his magnum opus "American Gods", that I should use descriptive narrative because I really love it! My style of writing is based on saturating the story with details, although not at the level of the master Neil, because at that point I don’t find it my own. I also like to create the dialogues with some pauses whenever I see it feasible, especially using the three dots (...), in my opinion, it can give a special touch to a good intricate dialogue. All these criteria that I have already commented can be perfectly observed in the fantasy novel series that I currently write "Akashic Codex", which its first book is titled "The Herald of Chaos and Order" and I have already published three chapters of the same, this book is a choral story and a multi-genre novel that mixes fantasy with drama, mystery, horror, science fiction and eroticism in a fusion that I considered propitious and coherent to conceive a story of this caliber. Writing this novel has been one of the most enriching and challenging experiences that I have lived, it has not been easy and I have taken the time to do it on my way, without the pressures that a page with this fast pacing can put on your back, since first of all I always try to polish my stories as much as possible and one of my commands is "you always have to be consistent", this phrase repeats itself like a broken record in my mind and sometimes it can be really annoying to have such high expectations, but the final result has always left me satisfied and I think I should be grateful for this demanding. It can be said that Steemit has contributed a lot in developing this attitude so "non-conformist" to call it in some way and I feel that the competition on this page is quite rough: every day I’m surprised by all the large number of quality posts that are posted by different users around the world. I’d dare to say that communities like @sndbox or @curie also have had notable influence in that because we all feel that need to perfect our content to fit in their standards, I usually try to make my content as "exceptional" as I can, I don’t know if I achieve it or not, but I always do my best and I try to see each day as an apprenticeship, I believe that I will never get bored of being a student in this school that opened its doors for me in December 2017: Steemit.
