Steemit Becomes the New Media Social Innovation (Sndbox Summer Camp- Sociology - Task 1)

Introduction

The presence of the community has had a significant positive impact on the development of the Steemit platform of the past 2 years. Various communities have emerged in different parts of the world to do holistic promo-steemit. Of course, the process of promo-steemit is not easy. Steemit like a new culture that entered into a community then accepted and applied by the community so that it grows.

Analysis of Innovation Diffusion Theory

The theory of diffusion Innovation was once popularized by Everett Rogers in 1964 through his book Diffusion of Innovations, this theory discusses how a new idea and technology spread and adopted in a culture. Some groups adopt an innovation after they hear the innovation, and some others take a long time to accept the innovation. From the theory can be interpreted that the emergence of flatform steemit within the community the influence of individuals and groups interact through cultural processes.

The existence of reward given by social media steemit make this flatform easily accepted so that some people have interest and dabbling in this flatform. The presence of social media technology innovation based on blockchain has a positive impact on human needs, one of them in the form of income that can improve the economy of the community. Of course with an interesting and useful post so that it can have value.

Then from the theory of diffusion of this innovation I interpret the presence of various technologies, especially the Internet allows people to interact with creating works in the form of ideas and knowledge that can be consumed by the community. Internet social media especially steemit develops through a social construction process communicated by people through community groups such as What's up, Discord, Telegram and Facebook so as to shape the culture and there are also through meet up and seminar activities.

The presence of social media steemit also makes some people leave old social media like Facebook because innovation steemit better than previous innovations. This can be measured through the satisfaction of using social media steemit where a number of people have a relative advantage perceived by the user. Here, every individual and social community begins to show to search for social networks in order to survive the steemit flatform. Social networks built by a number of people are distinguished in a variety of ways, some have connections with people who have high Steem Power, contest and challenge and so on.

However, behind the positive impact that comes with the presence of social media steemit, there are also some negative effects that occur in social life. In this perspective I see the emergence of competing community groups, saying certain very bad postings, debating, sarcasm, ethnocentrism and phishing etc., this kind of thing I often look at this social media, should inter-community mutually support, motivate and helping to be successful on this social media.

Social media steemit into a new innovation in the development of technology, where the presence of this flatform make a positive contribution in the development of culture with the process of human interaction. As a social media platform that provides rewards it is certainly very easy to accept innovation so steemit so quickly developed

Steemit is a new innovation that is very relevant with the development of the times and technology, which can be said as social change by moving from old social media to new social media based on blockchain. Social media innovation certainly has a positive and negative impact, Of course we as users must be ready to accept both.
