Some Tips On How To Start Writing An Article or a Steemit Post

in #sndbox6 years ago

As you scurry through your assignments and research projects in school, it takes effort and hard work for you to do well. Often, the hardest thing to completing a written assignment is starting. This is especially the case for long thesis and research articles. If you are facing a similar issue, then this post is for you. Today, we will be looking at three aspects that most lecturers look for when it comes to the content of your articles.

Thus, we will not be covering what kind of language that you should use nor the formatting. The style of writing and formatting for each student and individual is unique, of course, it has to be academic and formal. So, let's begin.

Start With A Problem

The problem of a thesis is essential, it forms the backbone of your article, your written work and even some of your blog or Steemit posts. In any academic work, many markers and lecturers will look for the problem that spurs the writing of that article. If the problem is something that is worth investigating, the results from that investigation will contribute to the knowledge of that field.

As such, you may want to start with a problem. Instead of staring blankly at the computer screen wondering how to start, reflect on the issues that constantly plague your industry. As a second language teacher, motivating students to participate has always been an issue for many teachers. Thus, an article that tackles this particular topic is always welcomed.

Conversely, you may be someone involved in management and find it particularly difficult to get the people under your management to develop themselves. As a result, conducting a study on the different methods of encouraging professional development will be useful to other managers in your field.

Confirm The Problem & Solution

By now, I hope you have already started a few lines that relates to the problem. All you have to do now is confirm that your problem truly exists. This can be done through a quick search on Google. However, if you are writing a college assignment or a research article, I would suggest the use of Google Scholar. There is a huge library of articles there. Thus, finding an article related to your field should not be an issue.

However, some lecturers perceive Google scholar to be not as accurate as the articles found on prestigious journals. Thus, you may want to try other sources such as Open Access Dissertation and Thesis or Proquest's Open access library (PQDT). There, you will find a compilation of undergraduate, masters and PhD articles.

As you are confirming the problem, you are bound to find the many solutions that have been suggested by these studies. This allows you to compare and perhaps formulate your own solution. However, you should never for once think that your solution is in any way inferior compared to others. Everyone finds a solution to their problems. These solutions are cultural, situational and specific to everyone, thus, what does not work for others may just work for you.

The Next Step

Now that you have the majority of your article done, its time to come up with a plan on how you are going to move forward from here. Some projects require you to complete an investigation. As you execute your investigation, do take into account the importance of practicality, reliability and validity.

Practicality is important because it ensures that you stay sane throughout a particular project. A few things to consider include, finances, time and effort. For example, will this project cost you dearly? If so, are there ways to mitigate the cost? Practicality needs to be considered well or else you may end up with some unwanted stress throughout your project and eventually, your written article.

The next issue is reliability and validity. When writing your article and executing your project, are you able to consistently get results that are trustworthy? If bias is involved, you may well get results that are not trustworthy. Validity on the other hand is important because it helps you stay on track with the objectives set forth in your article. If you pay attention to these two aspects, you will produce results that are not only trustworthy, but a result that could potentially solve the problem you set forth at the start of your article.

I hope this post has been useful. It does take over a semester to address all the points you have here. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments below!
