Africa's Most Valuable Snake
This is South Africa's most valuable snake. The Brown House Snake. We call it our most valuable snake because it can help us humans save a lot of money and not because you can sell it for money. In fact, it is protected and it is illegal to catch or sell it in South Africa!
Rats cause $ millions damage each year and this harmless snake eats plenty of rats.
In all of our educational talks - we shear this message and encourage people not to kill this snake.
In this picture my 6 year old daughter is holding a Brown House Snake to demonstrate that it is completely harmless.

I took a class and am certified to catch and release rattlesnakes. I learned that snakes are incredibly helpful when it comes to rodents. If we didn't have snakes the amount of rodents and problems would be insane!

Great post bringing awareness to these little ones, a lot of people end up killing them out of pure ignorance. Hopefully this can bring at least some relief.
