RE: When Ned Answers Questions about Smart Media Tokens - Transcript

in #smt8 years ago

I'm not sure where downvoting has gotten to.
However a user didn't like one of my comment so he goes and down votes 4 of my comments in other posts that had earnings.
If I was being childish I'd go down vote his.

Votes are hard enough to get as plankton / minnow. People coming from other media (YT or FB) are used to doing downvotes but now there is a REAL $$ cost involved.
And there seems to be no dispute resolution system either?
If steem are planning to bring users over from other systems this needs a fix ASAP in my view.

What are you talking about?

I posted a comment on User A post
User B (a new one) clearly didn't like my comment. (thats OK)

But User B went & downvoted 4 other comments of mine that had upvotes.
Maybe spite? not sure, but the whole downvote thing in Steem is going to kill the platform IMHO.

On other media platforms, downvotes are "normal" behavior.
It is far to simple to take votes / earnings here.
And as a 'beginner' votes (& SP) are VERY difficult to come by having some one maliciously take 4 upvotes from me just because is not good IMHO .

Your bio says you have marketing skills. Apply them. Try to see these events as learning experiences.

I've browsed through your comments. You seem to be copy/pasting same comments quite often. That's not really appreciated by some.

Good luck!

I'm doing that. What concerns me is the reports that show 50% of new user are leaving the platform after signing up.
Steem will not grow if basic issues are not considered / addressed.
It's not about me!! I'm trying to help steem!

I'm quite aware about the current state of this platform. Retention rates are always under close monitoring. Steps are being made, development is progressing and decisions are taken along the way. Are all those choices by Steemit the best possible option? Only time will tell.

Great, I hope others are also.
Marketing books say "New customers cost $10, existing ones cost only $1."
Seems a pity to loose 50% that where already here.!
Simple stuff, like a "help desk" or a "dispute resolution scheme".
At the moment is "appears" (to an outsider) the focus is on creation of bells & whistles, which is all good, but won't bring the mass market.
eg If I had a coffee shop & lost 50% of my new customers I'd put time & effort into attracting, it would be a BIG concern.

Working with your coffee shop analysis, Steem has 19 customers and they all seem to be pretty happy with the services in unison agreement.

only 19?
We have a different view re "customers".
I'm looking at "customers' as being the people who use the platform. ~400,000 or so. Which would be better if it was 2-3 million or even 20-30 million. I'm on the wrong page maybe. :-)
