This sounds like a terrific idea.

I'm viewing Ned's latest post Explainer: Value Flows on Steem with SMTs and trying to understand what he's saying.

I ALMOST understand the advertising thing...

BUT

Currently if when a post is made it receives the YUGE majority of it's votes within the first few minutes to an hour or so.
After the payout...it's gone.

How can this concept work given the current state of steem?

good information hopefully victorious @everittdmickey

That is the big selling point to me as well. If Steem becomes a value driver in increasing per clicks/traffic/etc to quality content, then there is a potential for additional revenue from advertising, retail, and developers.

Look at Pintrest when that became a huge platform for driving traffic!

It seems to me that for this to work optimally that all of an author's previous posts should be made easily available...right now they are not.

For sure... and the way to search should be improved. Quality content should be ranked higher and surface to the top of searches, the mobile app should be improved, so on and so forth.

But the potential is there for someone to capitalize on. Look at the barriers of entry as well. There is a very low cost, steem has no transaction fees, and people get rewarded for searching and posting.

Think of amazon reviews. Many people get paid to post reviews, while many do not. In steem, there would be no reason to pay someone to post reviews because everyone is getting paid. Poor reviews or fake reviews would get down-voted and actually cost the reviewer steem power.

As for me, I am learning, steem power is a long term investment. I would not want to waste it on gaining $100 for a fake review.

Therefore, I see huge potential. It just hasnt been tapped into yet.

What's your thought?

Ned addresses all that and more in his video's.

that's very helpful post!!
thank you ;)

Yeah I was thinking the same. I you said to dig deeper, I dig and I found this huge conflict between words of Ned and the current statement of steem.

That was then...this is now.
Everything changes...some changes are for the better.

@everittdmickey - excellent point.

If you are interested, I would love to discuss further in an episode of Crypto NIghts. Check out the most recent episode on SMTs, I have not considered your concern.

Would be good to hear from you.

Alex

I'm confused...what 'point' are you referring to?

Hello! What's the URL for Crypto Nights? Thanks.
