Tune it like a boss - NVIDIA + SMOS

Having dived into the depths of crypto currency and mining, I've allowed my self to dive into and explore every bit of equipment, software, and resource that could quench my thirst for getting to understand and get better at this curious world crypto.

Like with everything else in our world I have stood on the shoulder of giants to be able to see further, folks like @cryptomined, @bbt, @cliffoncrypto have shaped my thoughts and paths.

Along with this journey, i have met a number of folks like me who encouraged and inspired me. Places like @smos chat, @ethos IRC brought me together with people like @baraah, @cryptoscum, @barrycrypto, @cryptomined, @tytanic to mention a few.

From them, I learned different about skills and things, that helped me, and this post and the follow-ups are a tribute is an attempt to share what I have learned from all those fascinating people.

So the topic of this post is to highlight my go to platform for mining alt coin with my GPU rigs, the fabulous SMOS [https://simplemining.net/] .

This is a Linux distribution that incorporates miner software and drivers for both NVIDIA and AMD GPU's. Stability and ease of use has been absolute mind opener when it came to the realization that Windows OS is just as clunky and fraught with instability and problems as its reputation of 30 some years has already been documented on many fronts.

So my intention is to skip all the fluffy stuff of UI's and conveniences, and tell ya how to tune like a BOSS!

For now, just a tease, to get your interest and direction of what the interests are, having worked with NVIDIA 1060 and 1070 cards, I've been amazed how performant and frugal they are. For instance, general of the mill GTX 1060 3GB card [with a good memory like Samsung, Hynix] can be tuned to perform in high 25MH/s on Claymore - ETH.

So given the whole shortage of GPU stock and insane prices, I'd like to offer here series of articles that will share my explorations and tuning adventures.
