Smoke Network Making Some Changes... Steemit Clone No More

in #smokenetwork6 years ago (edited)

So I know some of you are actually creating content over at Smoke.io or Smoke Network. Many of you probably have heard about the platform but maybe not checked it out.

I think some of the goings on over there are interesting because essentially it's a Steemit copy or a Steemit clone, so it's interesting for me to see how Steemit does things and then some changes they've made to how things are done.

I've noticed two recent changes. The first change is that they no longer do 5 tags like Steemit. This change has happenned sometime within the past 12 hours or so. You used to select 5 relevant tags just like Steemit so something like "smokenetwork, marijuana, stoner, photography" etc you get the point. Now however they have a dropdown that selects one relevant pre-selected tag, something along the lines of "life, grow, edibles, nugporn, other" etc.

Another change I've noticed that I think is actually an interesting and positive one is that you can no longer upvote content from the blog feed. Where as some of us, admittedly myself as well will just go down our feed or the trending feed and upvote stuff without actually going into the post, on Smoke you no longer can do that. You actually have to go into the post.

While I imagine it may increase true engagement a slight bit more, at the end of the day it's really just creating 3 extra clicks to upvote someone, none the less thought it was an interesting change.

I havn't been able to get on Weku nor WHaleshares yet, went through all the steps but never got my final approval. Someone told me to go over to Discord but quite frankly I don't give a shit enough to do so, if your gonna make me jump through hoops to get on your stupid fucking platform then forget it. That said I'd be curious to hear from someone who is over there, have they changed things up from how things are done over here at Steemit?

Sort:

Yeah I don't know if that is going to really help much either making people go into the post because at the end of the day bots will still exist to upvote content anyways.

That is crazy you haven't been able to get on WhaleShares yet. When I got on I sort of created an account through another service which cost me like 10 BitShares or the equivalent of that. It is interesting over there because I don't associate it with money as much because they don't put the $ sign in front of stuff so I just figure I will cross post over there and hope I'm not totally wasting my time.

do you see the platform growing thus far? whats the overall moral and community like over there? better than steemit?

Over there I mainly just created an account and never ended up posting anything. The biggest problem I see with those types of clone platforms is they did their crowd sale on Ethereum and it seems like the exchanges they are on haven't switched over to the actual mainnet coins so what is being traded is still ERC20 tokens and often times can't be moved on and off the platform.

At some point I will probably tell some ridiculous stories of me being cross faded but I have really lost a ton of motivation right now to blog real hard on any of these platforms. I keep telling myself to put 2 post on STEEM up a day and replicate those on WhaleShares and WEKU and then make one post a day over on Scorum and then replicated that on the other platforms and then keep posting stuff on Instagram that will be thrown up on STEEM and then replicate that. But all that takes quite a bit of dedication and I'm over here staring at the Crypto prices and doing calculations.
