My Entry for the Steemit Music League Challenge S2:R4 [The 90's]

OK, my entry for this weeks SML Challenge is a tune called 'Brainwashing' that I actually made in 1996, so it's proper 90's vintage! It was a collaboration with 2 college friends, Win & Karen, and made in the studio at my college. This was a fairly simple setup, with an Akai sampler, an Emu Proteus sound module, a Roland JV-30 synth and an 8-track tape machine. No VST's, audio recording, just an early version of Logic for MIDI programming. The vocal was recorded direct to tape with minimal editing.

I was just getting into electronic music at the time and getting inspired by Goldie's Timeless, Apex Twin, The Orb, Orbital, Ninja Tune stuff etc. You can here a lot of that I'm sure...

It's up on Musicoin at the moment, you can check it out here:

Thanks!

Ayyyyy yesssssss bring that legit 90s song o weeeee.

Got that vibe right away with how the beat started off and how the vocals come in.

Woahhh love that sequence from 2:30-2:59+ such an intense vibe, such a cool energy.

Holy smokes those vocals around 3:50 so much passion.

So cool that you shared this college-creation of yours from this epic time era. Much appreciation.

That brought a smile to my face. The vocals were spot on, avant garde feel like Lena Lovich or Diamanda Galas or Dagmar Krause. The last clip of guitar with an entirely different feel felt humorous to me.
