So it's Mid January of 2018, I guess it's time we talked about what the smartphone Industry has to offer to us in 2018.
In the previous Year the entire trend of Smartphone was focused on Bezel-less Displays, Dual Cameras and Slimmer Body Build. But this Year things look very Promising as there are some Technologies in the Workshop that are just Mind Boggling.
So here are the Features that I think will lead the Charge in setting a new Smartphone Trend in 2018.
1. On-Screen Fingerprint Scanner
So what is this On-Screen Fingerprint Sensor?
It is basically a product which was manufactured by the collaboration of Qualcomm and Synaptics. In this case, the Fingerprint Sensor which used to take a huge space at the Bottom of the Phone would be shifted to behind the OLED screen Panel. The Sensor will scan your Fingerprint through the Screen.
An added benefit to this also leads lesser Bezels at the bottom since there will be no Physical Sensor attached.
The prototype of this technology was already described in the CES 2018.
2. 3D - Facial Recognition
As much as I don't like iPhones I can't help but admire the tech they put on their Smartphones. Yes, in this case, I mean the 3D facial Recognition technology. I have seen it in person and it's downright amazing. I really see other companies trying to get in on this aspect of Technology by end of Q1 2018.
3. AI Chipset
That is another thing that I am looking forward to in 2018. As some of you know I recently bought my One Plus 5T. But what most of you don't know is that I wanted to buy the Huawei Honor V10. I really wanted to test out their Neural Processor Unit which is basically an AI Chipset.
So these AI Chips helps in Faster Performance, Better Camera processing and not to mention their Learning capacity itself.

These tech are already in market in 2017. What else we will see in 2018?
And what iPhone is working on in 2019?
What we have seen are mostly prototype versions of these Technologies. 2018 will bring in a refined version of them.
We saw the prototype of On screen fingerprint sensor on CES 2018
Even though iPhone x has the 3D face recognition I still think there is room for more improvement.
As for AI chipset, we only saw the Kirin 970. Qualcomm is in works for their own Chipset with AI capacity.Thiss chipset will most likely be found in 2018 Flagships.

There would some smartphones which can mine cryptocurrencies. I hope these smartphones won't blast like Samsung and MI. What do you say @arunava?

Actually, I have tried mining with Smartphones via Minergate.
Minergate has an app that allows you to mine various coins depending on your Smartphone's Processing Speed.
But there were a lot of Battery and Heating issues.
Good to know! Your post was succinct and clear, so I actually learned a lot. While I'm not in the market for a new phone, I'll be interested to see if the market has a frenzy over the latest android tech or continues to slog the iPhone train...
You never know when you will need a new Smartphone.
So it's better to keep in touch with all the new Techs that are Upcoming.
