Smart Homes – The Enigma and the Promise (Link)
“Smart Homes” or “Intelligent Homes” or “Connected Homes” – have come a long way since they arrived on the scene in 1970’s with the advent of X10 and have since evolved over the past 4 decades. For all practical purposes Smart Homes are also amongst the first of the IoT based solutions with a real life use case that is production grade and implemented with some commercial success versus the majority of other IoT based solutions which are still at MVP or POC stages of their product lifecycle.
