" It is difficult to win an argument with a smart boss; but it is dam impossible to win a argument with stupid boss !"

Smart people listen to understand, not to respond.

Except rare cases, what we perceive as stupidity is really lack of character, of arrogance, and of insecurity.

They argue because they are afraid to lose face.

They forget what Justin Trudeau said: "Leadership is not about winning arguments. Leadership is about making a difference."

But there is more:

Additionally, and more importantly, insecure leaders are afraid to take a chance on people, give them opportunity to rise to a challenge.

They are afraid to hire "overqualified" candidates because such a person might present competition. They fail to see that such a candidate may make them and their team look like rockstars.

They are afraid to hire people with insufficient experience, too. What if such a hire will make them look bad ? They forget what Mark Zuckerberger said:

"The biggest risk is not taking any risk... In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks."

Confident managers support their employees, give them opportunities to excel and grow, and give them wings to fly.
