My introduction/admission request to @slothicorn | Why I want to be a part of the @slothicorn family!

 Hi people!

When I first saw @slothicorn in a post I originally thought, well, this must be either a contest or a magical user. I guess I wasn't that far off, at least with the magic part. As a creative artist I'm always trying to find my way (new ways) through my work, through what I decide and think it's right for me to go for. And this isn't an exception. First I will like to thank everyone who takes the time to check out this submission, and if you can help me accomplish what I'm trying to achieve with this post, I'm confident that this won't be the only time that I will work my arse off to make the best possible results out of my drawings. Thank you! I promise that I will become one of the best promoters for #crypto and also one of the best artists that steemit has seen even though this is a really high bar in terms of talent and work done. It's been amazing, beyond thought all of the great artists that now I'm able to follow and learn from.

Why do I need your help?

First of all, and so you can wrap your eyes around my art without too much judgement, I come from a long path of showing|introducing myself as a sketch artist. Where I live I really had a hard time selling my works, and could only rely on social media to gain followers and show my drawings|paintings|photographs. In terms of licence and to avoid getting my art stolen, I tried my best to post what I thought was a good portion of the drawing finished, but without going the extra mile after the sketch was made. This means that I only posted a kind of incomplete artwork in order to not get ripped off by anyone who took my imagery without permission. And I kind of get used to doing just that.

Now it's an entire different situation. After joining steemit and #cryptocurrencies, I'm now able to both monetize my work, share it and on top of that, I want now to aim higher, I don't want to just be a great artist. I want to finally have the opportunity to buy a nice tablet, laptop and overall tools that I know will improve the way that I do and share my art to everyone.

I have a great time doing portraits. I have studied and learnt from many other great artists and their lessons. And I'm all about practicing, designing and evolving. I can spend an entire day drawing just eyes, and have come a long way to not feel ready, but to feel capable of reaching a higher understanding of all of the illusions that one can create and project into others in terms of volume, shading and overall saturation tones. I don't think that I'm the best at it, but I know that I have the potential to grow and to gain respect because of my hard work.

My other passion is creating flowing lettering. I'm currently running my third year as an apprentice in a tattoo shop. And one of my main weaknesses has always been my linework. Maybe it's my mind, my nervous system playing my a trick every time that I pick a pencil, or maybe it's the road that I have to travel in order to be the best artist that I can. I know that many of my lines still lack more experience and tricks, but I will get better, I will improve. I just need to keep working and I know that I will become a great lettering artist!

What is left to say?

I need to grow, I thrive through my art. It's the main reason I survived so many poor choices and turned my life around from a world, a country that is crushed by the mediocrity of many. I don't want to only put myself above my situation. I want to help my family, to help others. I want to put Venezuela's name, my entire country at the highest level. Because I have seen and met such amazing artists, engineers, overall profesionals and artists that are my role models and perfect examples for me into wanting to take this road. And I know that we still have a lot to prove and offer. We (Venezuelans) are great people, and very talented too. Maybe you haven't yet met one cool artist who is from here, or maybe you have. To name a few I will throw these in here:

  • Yomico Moreno (Tattoo artist and photographer|paintings)
  • Darwin Enriquez (Tattoo artist and photographer|painter)
  • Eigler Nunes (Tattoo artist)
  • Totto Estrada (Tattoo artist)
  • Alexis Epalza (Tattoo artist and tattoo machine builder)

And on steemit I now follow these illustrative great artists as well:

Right now I only rely on my pencils, normal A4 paper sheets and a yellowish hard paper block that my wife gave me like 5 years ago, it still has more than 50 pages left. I can also use her nice camera to upload higher resolution photos, to be able to edit my drawings into vectors and start learning digital illustration techniques as well.

I hope that you guys like my drive to succeed and to keep pursuing my artistic career, my path. Maybe you can also give me some feedback and advice, and I would really like if more steemians and your @slothicorn team wanted to use my drawings for turning them into vectors or to work on pretty much anything that you want or might like.

All of these works were done between 2016 and my arrival at steemit, the last three months of this year! You can also see their chronology in my IG account here If you need more proof I will gladly make a @slothicorn's custom lettering (or even two or three) and post the work done over Instagram too.

If you decide to use my art or to work with me don't forget to give me a heads up!

Hello! I find your post valuable for the art community! Thanks for the great post! ARTzone is now following you! ALWAYs follow @artzone and the artzone tag, and support our artists!

The last steemit word art. I am in love with the curves, especially on the S. Just like the trial-by-stone blades in Dark Crystal.

I keep thinking that someone would want that kind of font or a similar one for steemit advertising, but I don't know, guess for now I'll try to edit it and digitally add some colors and fine linework to see if that picks some extra love around here. Thanks a lot for checking the post out. I need to let the editing breathe a little bit. I'm really digging your way of putting your entries together. Again, have a great weekend and thank you! I really appreciate your thoughts.

Very interesting presentation.
