Spells Of Genesis Monster token !

in #slothicorn7 years ago

This one took a bit longer, as I have taken to actually asking permission before spontaneously making 3D models ;)

So, now that EverDream Soft has given me permission to post my 3D model under a Creative Commons Non Commercial license ( Yay ! ) I can show it off !

I made this by extracting a common background from boss levels :

This guy in the middle of the most difficult levels, in the background

So, as always, I played around using pngtosvg to create a relatively well balanced SVG. Given the shadows in the main face I want to extract, I couldn't force it to give me the entire face, though:

pngtosvg-bit.png

This gave me a relatively broken model when imported into vectary

So, I took the SVG and opened in on the side, so I could see how best to fix the model manually

And I began fixing it, vertex by vertex:

Removing parts that shouldn't be there:

and doing some very small linking work between unconnected vertexes:

We're getting closer !

Now, I wanted to get rid of ANYTHING not part of the actual face, so, as above, I selected the parts I want to keep.

Then, I used the selection tool to "inverse" my selection to everything else EXCEPT what I'd selected:

This made a much cleaner result !

Then came the Looooooong task of linking the vertexes into actual faces that a 3D printer could accept.

I figured, since I can always extrude the rest later, it'll be much simpler to work from a 1D representation of the face, so I removed the top parts :

Glory to the Carniath Creator , it's DONE !

I then adapted the model for a token as I showed off in the very first picture of this post:

You can remix it using the Vectary model (say, add your Book of Orbs QR code to it, or even just some text, say, "Spells Of Genesis" on it), or download the STL file over at myminifactory

(I'm planning to make a banner using Vectary's new functionality, once they push the big update. I think it could be very interesting. I need to include my ENS eth domain name, counterparty bitcoin address, and some of my best 3D models... if possible I'd love to have it animated XD)

Still working on making a better spherical puzzle.

I've got a very interesting Idea to test, that I got after making Prototype 0B, which is a 4 part "puzzle" of the moon :

The new idea has to do with using a spherical puzzle pieces outlines template to cut away the forms for the puzzle pieces out of complex spherical models, after hollowing said model first.

As long as they're both centered on the same spot, the idea should work... I hope ;)

Bonus is, if it works, I can make the template puzzle piece outlines a separate model that could work on ANY spherical object with the same center as the template !

This is awesome :D Your 3D work is so cool.
