SteemIt and the Community

Today's subject is SteemIt and the local community:

I've been examining the effects of the Internet on local communities since 2000. Social media seems to have a negative impact. As people are drawn into their social media account, they end up turning their backs to the local community. I've seen people in Utah get in arguments over Malmo (a half world away) while ignoring things taking place in town.

Anyway, I have a collection of web sites with the brand Community Color . This site provides directories for communities in Arizona, Colorado and Utah.

So, what I want to do with the Community Color project is to encourage people to use social media to learn about the world, but people should write about their local communities.

I think that the best way to do this is to encourage people to look at the trending pages for their local home town. I am currently stuck in Salt Lake City. Locals use the keywords SLC for the city and Utah for the state.

Unfortunately, people around the world use SLC for other towns.
