Fake Canyon in Hidden Hollow

Salt Lake constructed a fake canyon along the Hidden Hollow section of the Parleys Trail through Sugarhouse area. I wonder if they intend this structure to be a public climbing wall. There is likely to be a large number of lawsuits when people fall off it.

The opening of this section of trail will create a nice cycling path that runs from Sugarhouse, around the park, up Parleys Hollow to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

The bridge is for 1300 South. The built a little amphitheater. There seems to be a lot of noise coming from the road.

I thought I would end this post with one of the famous Sugarhouse Beet statues. This one is in Hidden Hollow.

I know I would certainly be climbing on the wall. It does seem peculiar to build a fake canyon, especially when surrounded by so many natural mountains.

I suspect the fake canyon along a bike trail will provide political support for Utah's wilderness. It a half day's drive and a long walk to get to Utah's redrock canyons.

Desert landscapes are fragile and are being trampled by tourists. It will be interesting to see how these cement sculptures stand the test of time.
