The First Thirteenth Amendment which was passed but never ratified was called the Corwin Amendment and it actually made Slavery an incontestable fact of its legality as determined by each State.

It passed but was never ratified because the Southern States seceded before it could be ratified. Therefore maintaining that peculiar institution from federal abolition could not have been the Real cause. The Corwin amendment made abolition a non-issue, regardless of what Lincoln said.

So all Ya'all who wanna opine on the "Real" causes of the Civil War need to just stop right here because it was the overreach of the Federal Congress that gave the more populated northern industrialists the upper hand in politics; but arguing as if a sole cause or many different strawman causes changes or mitigates the heinousness of slavery as perpetrated by the Confederacy is sheer lunacy and pushes the unlearned to fall into the hands of state brainwashers if they don't think about the nature of government and its lack of altruism within its hallowed halls of debate.

Everyone thinks they've got some new brainstorm to justify glorifying confederate history.

It is wholly untrue that we cannot hold the Confederates accountable for the horrors they perpetrated as soldiers and veterans, by hiding their memorials in the annals of defeated terrorists museums regardless of the causes of the war; that some now want to use to justify glorifying them and this putrid history. Shame on you and these ethno-terrorists.

The real cause of the civil was whatever was in the mind of everyone who actually fought in that war. But why not just take the word for those slave States who passed legislation to secede and listed slavery. Period. Okay then... ready to hyperventilate? Start Reading Now:

First let me repeat that all vestiges and monuments glorifying the Confederacy must be removed from public property; not to cow toe to the anti-racists but because glorifying the confederacy is glorifying the worst parts of American History and should only be regarded in our history books for the ugly history that it is.

However Understanding why the South would make a pre-emptive secession without any legislation on the table IS an important part in ending the debate about the abolition of slavery being the cause of the civil war. It wasn't, But that's not the subject of the protests...... Glorifying the confederacy is the subject of people's anger.

The colonel's video linked below is propaganda, portraying the war as part of the abolitionist movement of an altruistic government, which I say and proved it was not, except maybe in the minds of those who volunteered to fight and die.

The confederates were traitors to the United States who used slavery as propaganda to secede to stop federal excise taxes and import tariffs, and it backfired. It actually accelerated abolition, but people need to understand that the war to take the South back wasn't financed by the North for the altruism of abolition either. But so what? People actually fought to make that propaganda come true.

Propaganda is a powerful tool and its mastery is written on the tablets of every war time recruiter of every war ever fought, And Ending or Keeping slavery was very powerful motivation to kill someone else to win for his side. Discounting abolition as a reason for the war for some people is disingenuous.

The video linked below misrepresents the impact of the Emancipation Proclamation and never mentions taxation as one of the South's reasons for secession but is a good video to watch. In reality, Four slave states never declared secession: Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, and Missouri kept slaves until 1865.

I'm not questioning that some people want to believe the Southern States Seceded to protect Slavery, they all stated as much in their secession legislation, But not to repeat the proofs above those states listed above didn't secede and had slavery after the war that the emancipation didn't free who were only freed by the second 13th amendment.

Why did the States who seceded think that the Federal Government was going to ban Slavery when they actually passed the Corwin amendment protecting it? That's my question and the answer is the proof; they really didn't.

Seceding actually sped up the process and gave the Federal Government a real reason to free their slaves.

Money is the real cause of all wars. If it's true that the South was really concerned enough about abolition to secede then that's fine with me but I cannot get past the fact that there was no actual legislation being debated in congress to end the practice; quite the opposite was true.

I will suggest, however, the distinct possibility that Lincoln's campaign promises threatening slavery was used as propaganda that turned into a war they thought they could win. There is nothing like a good slap in the face to produce violent results and Lincoln was a slappin.

Also England a non slave owning country supported the Confederacy, not the Union. Why was that? Cotton. Period. And they still had their eyes on owning our sovereignty again.

Again, President Lincoln ran partially on a platform of abolition but in truth it was true that he'd have kept it if it meant saving the Union and is quoted as even saying that.

The government has never been truly altruistic. Statements to the contrary are delusional. There must have been an eminent threat to the wallets of the Plantation Owners besides an existential threat of possible future abolition legislation; to convince their states to secede using slavery as propaganda.

Herein lies the true reason for the secession but identifying this as the one sole cause denies glory to those that fought and died for Abolition.

Taxation. The South was and still is tired of paying taxes and good salaries to their employees isn't a southern trait.

But the success of abolition was no accident either. It was the propaganda and motivation for real men to take up arms...... but the motivation for the financiers of the weapons, bullets and cannon balls was Taxation.

Abolition was the reason people fought but money was the reason they were able to buy the bullets to make the secession happen.

Again, however, let me repeat that all vestiges and monuments glorifying the Confederacy must be removed from public property; not to cow toe to the anti-racists but because glorifying the confederacy is glorifying the worst parts of American History and should only be regarded in our history books for the ugly history that it is.
