Water City [ Day 03 - Water ]

Last week i was introduced to 'free-writing' by @alimamasstory through the weekly Teh Tarik Sunday by #teammalaysia, where its an exercise to just freely write about something, without thinking too much or planning too much, by just going with the flow. In my honest opinion, it does have a very2 great values in it and have a very2 similar thing applied to sketching. :)

Usually, through my research and vast experience dealing with art education, the only thing that stops people from making the first stroke on the paper is just their own self. Most people will think too much of the outcome, of how to do it, or how will it look like, afraid to make mistakes and many more reasons that only involve your own self. So the trick is just to let loose, and be confident.

So for this piece of painting, im applying the same concept of 'free-writing' to 'free-painting'. i did not plan as much for this drawing, all i had before starting the painting was the concept, and idea of 'a city that runs on water' to tackle the theme of the day.

I started with a big brush to just do a strong stroke and then one thing leads to another, ive got this silhouette of the city, inspired by a water dam in a valley.

Then it thought i need something in the foreground as a focal point of the composition, so i draft a water-powered (cool huh? :P) jet plane in the front.

And combine it together.

But then i felt that it needs some little touch up to give it a bit more atmosphere with water droplets and steam at the background.

And voila! the end product. :)

I did set up for a timelapse recording but im not sure why it skipped the earlier bit for some reason.. ill find how to solve it soon for the next post. lol. but do enjoy it here nevertheless!! :)
