Freedom sometimes is expressed by a small rebellion in the face of power. At the supermarket, some people love to dig their hands into a bin of nuts or dried beans. Some do it in secret, believing that if they were discovered that they'd face the disapproval of the store and other customers. But they do it anyways. A small act of sensation and rebellion, meaningful only to themselves.
In my drawing, instead of digging hands, I decided on having on hand pick a nut. Maybe the subject is stealing one. Or taking a moment before the plunge.

The initial sketch, some trouble with the base of the hand...
Masking the reshaping the hand with some shadow and additional rendering.
