SKETCH DRAWING CONTEST #3: The Rose of Depression

This is an entry for @sparkyez drawing competition.

This Is an Awareness that Depression is anywhere.

This drawing entry has 2 purposes:
●Awareness about depression
●Joining the drawing contest

In my way of drawing, i always start with what the drawing is all about. As for this case it's a rose, so I made a rose using a pencil.

after that I continued drawing it and applying an ink on it using a sign pen. At this point I still don't have any idea where my art will go, or how it will end up.

Until I stopped, and internalized what's happening around me. Then I saw my friend inside my mind, who commited suicide. In our school the average rate of successful suicide is 3 persons per year, and it may run down to 50 suicide attempts per year. And so I continued...

I made a mouth and an eye and put stripes on the rose to let you see that depression is not visible outside. The person may look happy, well dressed, beautiful, or anything, but we will never know what that person is feeling inside.

So it's like a mask of deception being pulled together by a slim thread, that anytime it would break, and finally thoughts and tendencies of suicide are born.

A dead rose, a dead tree, a rope and a fire. A representation of what is inside that person's mind. It symbolizes:
Dead rose: extreme sadness
Dead tree: hopelessness
Rope: suicidal thoughts
Fire: pain

I made an outline of small intersecting roses, that represents hope, and grace. That no matter what happens, there is a God who loves you, and there are people around you who cares a lot for you.

This is now the result.

Great idea. But looks like you used yellow in the mouth and fire. That is not allowed for this contest. Otherwise It is really cool.
