Steemit.com the website and the company behind the Steem blockchain, is US based, and will eventually be pressured by some political entities to do some things they don't want to. However, the underlying data of the blockchain can be presented by other means such as standalone clients and alternative websites. The main partners are very libertarian and free speech oriented. A very exciting experiment -- we'll see what happens. Wish us all luck in keeping this a "safe space" for actual thinking.

Indeed, I do expect that, when it will grow into a behemoth like facebook, it will eventually suffer high quantities of pressure from (especially) the regressive left. I just hope it stick to it values, and does not sink to the unfathomable deeps that Twitter has... no matter the pressure. I don't even understand why twitter does such things, I mean, to they not see, that exactly this types of actions causes them to bleed users? And not only do they continue to enforce such actions, but the reasoning becomes more and more idiotic.
