This Gadget Will Turn Your Fingers Into A Phone!

We have seen many gadgets that are supposed to make communication easier - smart watches, bluetooth headsets and more.
But what if there was a device that could give your actual fingers a phone signal ?!
Everyone knows the gesture of forming a fist, sticking out your thumb and pinkie, and then holding the hand to your ear as if you were holding a telephone.
And now, a wristband will make it possible to make and receive actual calls with that gesture!

This wristband is called Sgnl, and successfully funded a Kickstarter Campaign in 2016, and was present at this year's CES in Las Vegas.

It's created by Inmodle Lab, a Startup that was created by many former Samsung employees.
Sgnl is connected via bluetooth to your phone, and has a built-in microphone.

It doesn't have a physical speaker though, it sends the phone signal through your hand and up into your finger so that you can hear the other person's voice!

Through the body conduction unit, the vibrations are being sent through your wrist, travel through your hand and finger and then to your ear.

There's even an audio algorithm that selectively amplifies voice signals and reduces background noise.

It's being sold for $139, an you can either wear it as a wristband on its own or as a watch strap for your traditional- or smart watch.
It should last for over 4 hours of calling and can be charged with a Micro USB cable.
There's also a button to switch into "do not disturb"-mode.
And it even works as a fitness tracker and comes with its own app!

“The technology is a body conduction unit. There’s an actuator built into the strap that translates a voice signal into a vibration. When the BCU module is in contact with your wrist, the vibration goes all the way up your fingertip. If you touch your ear it then vibrates the air in your ear canal, which lets you hear sound.”

Now this gadget might not seem totally unnneccessary, since you need to have your phone in your pocket anyway and you could just take it out and make a regular call.

But making a call with your fingers only is way more exciting and cool, right ?!

Hahn Ryu explains that the primary reason for the creation of Sgnl was that smartwatch users often make calls via speakerphone:

“We decided to create it because we were seeing smartwatch owners having conversations using speakerphone,” he said. “That’s okay in some cases, but it can also be awkward if you don’t want people listening in. That’s how we started the project. Then, once we had developed the technology, we realized that it also solves the problem of people losing their Bluetooth headsets, or getting their EarPods tangled in their pockets.”

This is a cool gadget but can't help to wonder at what cost to our health!?! the effect is definitely super cool and really look forward to see what people will make of it as time goes by 'cause, as usual, a lot of this digital technology does have an influence on our brain functions and cellular health, but who really cares?!? On the long run, the cool factor and the speed factor seem to take over the long-run... We shall see, thanks again for sharing this super cool gadget with us all. All for one and one for all! Namaste :)

That's right, I didn't read anything about the consequences for our health anywhere. So I'm actually not sure if here are side effects either!
It's a cool gadget and I'd like to try it out myself to see how well it really works, but it's definitely not that practical (and maybe unhealthy) for everyday use.
Thank you for your comment!

Awesome! Upvoted and resteemed!!!

Thank you, I appreciate the support!

Pretty cool thing but my phone is hardly used as a phone is to be used that much nowadays. :-)

Yes that's actually a very good point. I think this gadget is more for fun anyway!

Yes though if it can replace the screen by aome kind of projection, it may be a different story.

Nice Gadget! Upvoted and Resteemed...

Awesome, thank you!

I like it. Now I won't have to look like I'm talking to myself on speaker phone. :)
